The Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) is a collection of activities and experiences where girls earn badges, sell cookies, go on exciting trips, explore the outdoors, and participate in or lead take-action projects that make a difference. The GSLE empowers girls to discover their own world as they develop a strong sense of self and strengthen values, connect with others in a global community as girls form caring relationships, promote cooperation and embrace diversity, and take action in the world as girls identify and solve problems they care about.

    We are currently looking for individuals to fill the following Summer Camp positions at Camp METRO. Camp Metro is a Day Camp program held at the West Side Girl Scout Leadership Center in the former Coronado/Escobar Elementary School in San Antonio.

    Job Title: Camp Metro Nurse

    Position Purpose: The Camp Metro Nurse is responsible for overseeing the health and safety of campers and staff.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Cares for the physical well-being of everyone in camp. Takes care of all cases of illness and accidents of campers and staff.
    • Keeps heath records; records all treatment in bound book and other health information including insurance claims.
    • Maintains first aid equipment.
    • Inventories all medical supplies at the end of the camp season; disposing of items that cannot be kept through the winter, packing for storage supplies that are unusable.
    • Prepares records for office files, including health forms for all campers and staff, inventories, daily treatment sheets, individual health records, and accident and illness insurance forms.
    • Notifies Camp Director immediately of all serious illnesses and accidents.
    • Transports any ill or injured person to the doctor or the hospital when needed.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 25 years of age or older.
    • Registered Nurse (RN) or License Practical Nurse (LPN), with a license as required by the state of Texas.
    • Current certification in CPR and First Aid and Personal Safety from the American Red Cross.
    • Certified to dispense medication:1-year minimum experience
    • Experience in first aid and emergency management.
    • Have and maintain a valid TX driver’s license, and acceptable driving record, acceptable insurance, and reliable transportation.
    • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
    • Must attend training sessions May 27 – 30 and June 2 – 6, 2025.
    • Must be available to work the entire camp session June 9 – July 25, 2025. ( Camp will not be in session June 30 – July 4, 2025).
    • Experience in both child and adult illness/injury care.
    • Desire to work with children and young adults.
    • Community health knowledge.

    • Ability to drive to off-camp health provider, physician, or emergency treatment locations.

    General Information:

    • Location: West Side Girl Scout Leadership Center at Coronado/Escobar in San Antonio, TX 78237
    • Reports To: Camp Director
    • Compensation: $18.00 /hour
    • If selected for hire, a minimum of 3 references will be requested.
