Qualifications
- Knowledge of IOTA and school site general policies, procedures and mission statement (acquire within a reasonable amount of time).
- Experience working with and building strong, trusting relationships with adolescents
- Experience with de-escalation techniques, including CPI and restorative justice
- Knowledge of modern investigative and law enforcement procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable municipal and state codes as related to school campuses and student conduct.
- Knowledge of laws pertaining to juveniles.
- Knowledge of controlled substances and their effect upon behavior.
- Knowledge of customs and activities indicative of undesirable youth groups.
- Knowledge of principles of organization and administration including procedures, systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of and competency with MS Office products such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Work effectively in an environment that may require off-hour on-call support depending on the time of year.
- Ability to supervise and direct students in a friendly, unemotional manner.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with faculty and staff.
- Ability to interpret and enforce rules and regulations according to varying situations.
- Ability to write complete and concise reports.
- Ability to handle a variety of tasks and set priorities among them for timely completion.
- Ability to perform well under pressure.
- Ability to resolve matters with discretion and diplomacy.
- Ability to exercise discretion in the dissemination of information.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in security is strongly preferred. School security experience is preferred but relevant experience in these other fields of security may be considered: government security, industrial security, military, or law enforcement.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- A valid Driver's License and clean record.
- All candidates must be able to pass drug screening and background checks.
Additional Information
The wage for this position will be $16-$18 per hour, please note that candidates who are new to their role or newly promoted can expect offers between the minimum and the mid-point of the range. To allow for salary progression over time, offers at the top of the range are rare. Individual education and experience will be considered when issuing offers.
