    POSITION: Tax Accountant (Level III)

    FULLTIME/PARTTIME: Full time

    LOCATION: Atlanta, GA

    SCHEDULE: 40 hrs Monday-Friday

    CONTRACTED: 07/29/2024 to 07/01/2025

    PAY RANGE: $28.00 – 30.05 hourly

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Responsible for assisting with the process of sales and use tax returns, payment of and accounting for all related tax liabilities, maintenance of related tax records and files and assisting with the handling of audits. The overall objective of this position is to ensure compliance with all applicable state and local tax requirements while minimizing the sales and use tax burden for the Company. This role in a 100% onsite presence at the Atlanta Location.
    • Responsible for assisting with the process of the sales and use tax returns in a timely manner and in compliance with all applicable state and tax requirements
    • Review general ledger data for accuracy and ensure that all data is reconciled in a timely manner that will be loaded into the applicable sales/use tax software compliance system. Conduct research and document taxability questions, tax rates, jurisdictional information, etc.
    • Sales/use tax compliance files for all units and jurisdictions in accordance with the Internal Audit guidelines. File copies of statements, bills, tax returns and correspondence as appropriate
    • Ensure that documentation is captured and meets Tax Department standards and requirements.
    • Provide support for audits as needed.
    • Responsible for reviewing journal entries and accounting adjustments and adjust related general ledger accounts as needed
    • Responsible for monthly sales and use tax reconciliations required for internal reporting purposes. Analyze and reconcile sales and use tax liability accounts to the general ledger on a timely basis. Determine accuracy of payments and accrual
    • Prepare and submit for approval journal entries as required to adjust the accounts.
    • Review the accuracy & completion of appropriate sales tax exemption certificates
    • Proficient Alteryx knowledge base. Build and troubleshoot Alteryx workflows for the sales and use compliance processes (a plus)
    • Provide guidance and support on streamlining sales and use processes through technology improvements (a plus)

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business-related field with 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
    • Monthly Multi-State Sales Tax Compliance Experience
    • Sales Tax Return Preparation & Filing
    • Experience with Vertex Indirect Tax Returns highly desirable
    • Proficient in Sales Tax Research
    • Experience with Sales Tax Audit
    • Experience with Sales Tax Registrations
    • Experience with Business Licensing Filings
    • Proficient with General Ledger Account Reconciliation

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
    • The ability to lift up to 30lbs
    • Use of computers and technology
