PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:
The Adjunct Instructor for Veterinary Technology is responsible for teaching assigned classes. The days and times of classes are dependent on schedule, budget, and enrollment. This position will demonstrate strong instructional skills and engage a diverse student body using traditional, nontraditional, and innovative methods of instruction and effectively structure classes and curriculum to support program and course outcomes. The Adjunct Instructor of Veterinary Technology is experienced and committed to culturally sensitive care to varying ethnic, linguistic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Adjunct Instructor for Veterinary Technology is responsible for teaching Veterinary Technology or assisting students in a clinical or lab setting utilizing current technologies and instrumentation methodologies. This position is responsible for serving as a role model for Veterinary Technology and assistant students by participating, and being an active member of professional organizations. This position assists, advises, and mentors students in accomplishing their course and program goals, while using retention strategies both in and out of the classroom to maximize student success.
The Adjunct Instructor for Veterinary Technology is also responsible for participating in extracurricular activities that enhance the students, the profession and the college. This position remains current with content, technology, and teaching and learning strategies in the discipline.
MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
The successful Veterinary Technology adjunct instructor must have graduated from an American Veterinary Medical Association accredited veterinary technology school, and hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
