    Capstone Fire and Safety is looking for experienced and professional fire Captains to staff our fleet of Type 3, 6, 7 wildland fire engines. Our customers include the USFS, power generation facilities, Electrical Transmission companies and construction companies.

    Location: This position requires travel with multi-day assignments and reports to various locations in Northern California.

    Insurance Fire Captain

    Supervises and participates in all activities and functions assigned to a fire company

    Participates in fire suppression, prevention, training and related tasks.

    Supervises firefighters, firefighter/paramedics and fire engineers

    May function as an "acting" Battalion Chief in the absence of their immediate supervisor when approved by the Deputy Chief or Fire Chief

    Keeps subordinates and superiors adequately informed of significant matters which affect their work, attitudes and morale. Advises and consults with their immediate supervisor on a regular and ongoing basis.

    Prepares timely and accurate reports and maintains company files in an up-to-date status, as required. Generates a performance report for their immediate supervisor as needed.

    Minimum Requirements

    All candidates MUST have clean background investigation and successfully pass an initial drug screening upon offer of employment. The following sections provide the minimum qualifications for positions in non-exempt categories.

    DMV/EDUC

    Valid Driver’s License

    Valid Medical Examiner’s Card

    Clean Driver’s Record

    High School Diploma or GED

    EMS

    CPR with AED

    EMT (Desired)

    PHYS FIT

    Physical Fitness (Initial Hire and Annually)

    Work Capacity Test - Arduous Level (Pack Test)

    Pass full DOT physical: bending, pushing, pulling, crouching, and vision

    Minimum Qualifications:

    5 or more years of wildland firefighting/structure experience AND

    3 or more years as a supervisor or leadership position OR

    Successfully complete the CFMI Captain Trainee Requirements

    Minimum Training Requirements:

    CA State Fire Marshal Fire Officer or Equivalent OR

    NWCG ENGB (I-200, S-230, S-231, S-290) with signed Task Book OR

    Meets NFPA 1021 Standard for Fire Officer

    Desirable Qualifications:

    I-300, L-280, S-200, S-215, S-234, S-270,

    Fire Command 1A, Fire Command 1B, Fire Command 1C, Fire Prevention 1A, Fire Management 1A

    THE ACADEMY:

    A mandatory paid ($11 a hour), 2 WEEK assessment and training period where Capstone Fire Management, Inc. has an opportunity, based on performance and completion of exams, to determine if candidates meet qualifications to be hired full time.

    The Academy is scheduled from Monday, June 18th, 2018 through June 29th, 2018.)

    TRAINING AFTER THE ACADEMY: After successful competition of the academy, new hires, may be directed to attend the following PAID ($11 per hour) training:

    A 1 to 2-week Driver Operator course, DO 1A & 1B.

    AND/OR, a 1- Week, Confined Space Rescue course.

    JOB ASSIGNMENT:

    Job assignments are expected to start immediately after academy and/or training.

    Assignments are expected to last until the end of October 2018; however, some could be extended to December 2018.

    Please be advised that the possible assignment locations are in: Bakersfield, Napa, San Luis Obispo, Placerville and Alturas. Other locations may be added or subtracted based on customers request.

    Possible shifts, which varies by projects and required positions, are: Monday through Friday, 07:00-16:30 OR 24 hour shifts with a 48 hours on and 96 hour off.

    We are sourcing candidates who live in the areas of our assignments. As a result, there are no relocation funds, however new hires may be offered hotel accommodations for a short time but will be responsible for their own permanent residential accommodations and will be expected to be available at the job sites if they accept an offer.

    COMPENSATION:

    If a candidate successfully completes the program they will receive a job offer with their pay rate and position. THIS PAY RATE IS PAID AFTER THE ACADEMY & TRAINING. Our pay rate ranges, in general, are as follows, depending on qualifications and/or training:

    Firefighter - $17

    Captain - $29

    Those firefighters who are sent to training to be a Driver Operator or Rescue Technician will be paid at the Driver Operator or Rescue Technician’s pay rate after the successful completion of their training (remember, training wages of $16.30 an hour are paid during the Academy and other assigned trainings).
