    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cardiac Monitor Technician - Emergency Dept. - Part Time, Days.

    Operates telemetry monitoring equipment to identify and record variations in the patient's cardiac rhythm Provides data for physicians and telemetry nursing staff to diagnose and treat cardiac arrhythmia Labels edits and mounts ECG rhythm strips for review by physician and nursing staff Maintains telemetry monitoring equipment and refers equipment for repair Participates in the orientation process of new employees

    Job Responsibilities:

    1. Telemetry Monitoring
    • Observes cardiac telemetry monitors as assigned. Sets appropriate alarm parameters.
    • Obtains baseline strips at the beginning of each shift on all monitored patients.
    • Identifies a dysrhythmia/significant rhythm change and obtains a documentary strip which is labeled correctly with the patient’s name and date/time of event.
    • Notifies nursing staff of any critical heart activity or irregularity in a timely fashion. Edits, mounts and labels tracings for review by nursing staff.
    • Observes monitoring strips during procedures and Code 64 and reports variances to the nursing staff.
    • Enters the patient admission information into the monitoring system and patient log book.
    • Maintains information in the telemetry log book on all monitored patients.
    • Maintains accurate patient information when transferring data.
    • Orders and stocks all necessary monitoring supplies.
    1. Safety
    • Maintains equipment in clean and proper working order.
    • Troubleshoots monitoring equipment problems and initiates corrective action.
    • Refers equipment issues or problems to Biomedical Engineering.
    • Notifies the Nurse Manager or Nursing Administrative Supervisor of any equipment problems that require intervention.
    • Notifies the Nurse Manager and or Nursing Administrative Supervisor of lost or misplaced telemetry monitors and completes an incident report.
    • Maintains accurate documentation and organization of patient information and telemetry box assignments.
    • Recognizes safety hazards and acts promptly and appropriately to resolve.
    1. Custome/Interpersonal Relations
    • Demonstrates awareness and participates in activities that support customer satisfaction.
    • Interacts effectively with the staff on the unit and in other departments.
    • Seeks out and utilizes the Nurse Manager or Nursing Administrative Supervisor to address issues that require their assistance to resolve.
    • Participates in the evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of current practice and supports measures to improve practice.
    • Maintains personal appearance as outlined in organizational guidelines
    1. Continuing Education/Meeting Attendance
    • Maintains knowledge of current trends and techniques in the field by reading applicable literature, attending LIC educational programs or by attending outside seminars or conferences.
    • Complies with staff meeting attendance requirements.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or GED Ability to read and write in order to obtain and record pertinent information in patient charts and to perform noncomplex arithmetic calculations as normally acquired through completion of high school Knowledge of medical terminology and physical sciences Basic analytical skills in order to recognize abnormal heart rhythms or artifact in test data and to notify appropriate personnel Requires a passing grade of 85 on the Dysrhythmia Proficiency Exam

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
