    Position Summary:

    We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Career Preparation Instructor Responsible for the successful implementation of the career preparation program which takes place in the students first sixty days, including instruction and oversight of assigned students. This position has a significant emphasis on promoting new student retention as student are most vulnerable to dropping out in the first sixty days. The CPP program is designed to prepare and ensure readiness of students for entrance into the academic training, and career readiness programs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles.
    • Assists student's learning basic informational technology and job search skills.
    • Develops needs assessment of employment barriers and identifies potential transitional services that students may need for successful program completion, job placement and job retention.
    • Ensures students receive instruction addressing basic living skills.
    • Assists in the development of lesson plans.
    • Assists with MY PACE.
    • Attends required and additional staff training.
    • Ensures students receive information and assistance in the following areas:
      • Employability skills
      • Information technology
      • Researching labor market information
      • Academic and career technical training options
      • Support services
      • Community resources
      • Interest and aptitude testing and assessment
      • Job search skills
    • Assists students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor.
    • Ensures that student needs are met in a timely professional manner with the highest degree of customer service in mind.
    • Works closely with the Health and Wellness department, reports any concerns immediately about health, mental health, and substance abuse.
    • Adheres to all PRH and CMG policies and procedures, and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Prepares reports and forms and documents in CIS case notes and files observations of student's behavior, performance, notable information or events, and progress towards achieving goals and objectives.
    • Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
    • Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
    • Meets individually with students assigned to their area responsibility at a minimum of once each month documenting the meetings in case notes.
    • Ensures equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with company, state, and federal standards. Conducts quarterly property counts, submits property relocation requests as needed, may serve as a property custodian. Submits maintenance requests as needed.
    • Provides instruction to teach students the four phases of the Career Development Services System (CDSS).
    • Students must be thoroughly instructed on behavior expectations including Zero Tolerance Policy, rules and regulations, schedules, timeliness, attendance and the consequences of not meeting standards.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum: Bachelor's degree (including 15 semester hours of instruction in social services-related instruction), and one year experience in counseling or related fields.

    Preferred: Master's degree in counseling, social work or a closely related field. Job Corps or similar experience working with disadvantaged youth preferred.

    Knowledge Required: Sound knowledge of counseling techniques, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, knowledge of characteristics and problems of disadvantaged youth, must maintain CPR/FA certification.
