    Job Function:

    The Career Readiness Specialist position requires you to be able to promote individual success by learning about their interests, skills, strengths and any individual’s perceived barriers to employment. Some of the key responsibilities and functions are included in the following paragraphs.

    You will be responsible for developing and implementing creative new job development strategies besides newspapers or internet. Develop personalized plans to help participants work toward self-sufficiency and job success. You will be the person to submit required reports per contract and/or LCS expectations and maintain a database of active and potential employers.

    You will work collaboratively with the participant, his or her DVR counselor, and support team to gain employment in the community. Occasionally, you will have to coordinate with outside resources that may help a participant deal with issues outside of DVR services. You will be responsible for the provision of employment services to participants per DVR technical specifications and ensure participants have current authorization from the current funding source for all services before the start of the service. And you will perform completion of monthly DVR and/or long-term care billing along with monthly progress reports.

    Basic requirements:

    • At least 2 years’ experience in working with individuals with disabilities.
    • HS Diploma is required (2-year degree in the Human Services field is preferred).
    • A valid Driver’s License is required.
    • Knowledge of Department of Vocational Rehabilitation regulations is helpful.
