Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Career Readiness Trainer – Bilingual (English/Spanish) to join our team in empowering disadvantaged New York City residents to achieve meaningful employment. In this role, you will provide hands-on support throughout the job search journey, from resume and cover letter development to interview preparation and soft skills coaching. Your work will directly impact participants' ability to overcome employment barriers and access stable, growth-oriented opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual coaching to participants on resume building, cover letter writing, job search strategy, and interview preparation.
Assist participants with creating and enhancing LinkedIn profiles and navigating online job search tools.
Collaborate with the Lead Coach to develop curriculum, workshops, and logistics plans.
Facilitate workshops and group sessions in both English and Spanish, focusing on job readiness and soft skills such as communication, confidence-building, and workplace professionalism.
Help participants identify immediate employment opportunities and connect them with local resources to address employment-related barriers.
Establish and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations such as Dress for Success, workforce development centers, and faith-based groups to support job placement.
Track participant progress and maintain accurate documentation to evaluate program success and identify areas for improvement.
Required Qualifications:
Fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in career coaching, workforce development, employment services, or a related field.
Proven ability to support and motivate individuals from diverse and underserved backgrounds.
Strong skills in resume writing, job search techniques, online presence building, and interview coaching.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an empathetic, client-centered approach.
Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Experience in curriculum development and group facilitation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and job search platforms such as Indeed, LinkedIn, etc.
Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of maintaining thorough records of client engagement and progress.
Strong problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness in connecting participants with appropriate support services.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the NYC workforce development ecosystem.
Prior experience working with nonprofit or social impact organizations.
Knowledge of trauma-informed coaching approaches.
