    Intern, Government Relations Department: Development Reports To: Director, Government Relations Classification: Internship Job Code: IGR1 Carnegie Halls Development Department seeks a part-time, paid intern (20 hours/week) to assist with the daily operations of the Government Relations team. Responsibilities include writing, research, administrative tasks, and full involvement in and exposure to advocacy and fundraising efforts with federal, state, and local government agencies for a major performing arts organization. As a key member of the Government Relations team, which includes a Government Relations Director and three additional staff members, the Government Relations Intern will: Assist Carnegie Halls Development Department in meeting revenue goals for our programs, building support for current artistic and education programs, and promoting new initiatives. Learn about how public funding for the arts functions and about how arts organizations work with government agencies. Participate in fundraising campaigns and strategic planning discussions for Carnegie Halls 2018-19 Season activities. Assist the Government Relations team with outreach efforts to elected officials at the city, state, and federal levels to promote Carnegie Hall summer initiatives such as NYO-USA, NYO2, NYO Jazz, Music Educators Workshop and NeON Arts. Assist with cultivation projects and social media engagement. Prepare briefings and materials for donor correspondence and meetings. Create updated cultivation materials to promote Carnegie Halls programs to elected officials. Assist with research and data management for Government prospects and donors using the organizations Tessitura database. Assist with the Government Relations teams invitations and preparation for Carnegie Halls summer gala event, The Stage of Legends. Assist with the departments outreach efforts for Carnegie Halls Social Impact Programs. Gain hands-on experience with the departments Tessitura database through conducting research and updating constituent records. Assist with general administrative duties as needed. Participate in general Development Department activities as needed, including attending Department meetings and supporting the Special Events team in preparation for major fundraising events such as the Opening Night gala. Qualifications Candidates considering a career in fundraising and/or arts administration are encouraged to apply. The fellow must be proactive, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and be able to work collaboratively with a team as well as independently. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills are required. Experience with Tessitura, Raisers Edge, or Salesforce is a plus. Interest in music and arts education is essential.
