Payroll Specialist - 30 hours/week

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for day-to-day payroll transactions and the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payrolls for both exempt and non-exempt employees for multiple companies. This role prepares, analyzes, and reviews payroll reports, calculations of payroll and exception items such as bonuses, garnishments, terminations, tax adjustments, administration of time and attendance systems and report requirements. This position supports a bi-weekly payroll for over 400 employees using Ceridian software. This individual will serve as a member of the Finance Department team.
Additional duties include: -Reconciling benefit deductions -Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits -Process time and attendance information for all departments -Processing wage verification and unemployment forms -Present at new employee orientation -Processes and prepares manual and off cycle checks -Import payroll journal entry into accounting software -Inspects automated system output such as registers and standard reports -Review of annual data for W2s, workers compensation and 403(b) testing -Researches and prepares special reports for management -Provides policy information and employee specific data to employees in a customer service capacity -Communicate regularly with Director of Finance, as well as other departmental leaders -Confer with Human Resources staff on employee payroll and benefit related issues -Performs other financial duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
Associate degree or higher in related field, with multi-year prior Payroll experience required. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) license a plus. This individual must be well organized, detail oriented, and possess excellent customer service and problem-solving skills. A strong candidate will have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once, utilizing critical thinking and common sense. Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive material. A strong knowledge of Microsoft products(Excel, Word, Teams) and payroll software are essential. Experience with Ceridian/Dayforce preferred. This position requires flexibility including the capability to change focus from one task to another as the need arises. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to success in this position.
An ideal candidate will have the ability to work well within the Finance Department and other Carolina Meadows department team leaders and members, as well as work independently following instruction from the Director of Finance.
