    Job description

    This position in 4 days 10 hrs. shifts on call one day a week one weekend a month.

    The Cath Lab IR Tech assists radiologists, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures using imaging techniques such as X-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and CT scans. The primary role involves operating and maintaining imaging equipment, preparing patients, and ensuring a sterile environment during the procedure.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Patient Care:

    Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort.

    Monitor patient vital signs before, during, and after procedures.

    Assist with patient positioning to ensure accurate imaging.

    Procedure Support:

    Assist physicians during interventional procedures (e.g., catheter insertions, angiograms, biopsies, stent placements) by providing necessary tools and equipment.

    Operate imaging equipment (e.g., fluoroscopy, X-ray, ultrasound) during procedures to guide physicians in real-time.

    Ensure proper sterilization and cleanliness in the procedure area.

    Equipment Maintenance:

    Operate and troubleshoot medical imaging equipment to ensure optimal function during procedures.

    Clean and sterilize equipment after use.

    Monitor inventory levels and stock essential supplies (e.g., catheters, contrast agents, gloves, etc.).

    Documentation and Compliance:

    Record procedure details, including patient information, imaging, and equipment usage.

    Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with health regulations (e.g., HIPAA).

    Assist in the preparation of reports and maintain accurate patient records.

    Safety and Infection Control:

    Follow safety protocols and radiation safety standards to minimize exposure to both patients and staff.

    Assist in maintaining infection control practices to prevent cross-contamination during procedures.

    Collaboration:

    Work closely with radiologists, cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure smooth and efficient procedures.

    Communicate effectively with the medical team and assist with any necessary preparations or adjustments.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    Education: Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program, with specific training in cath lab or interventional radiology procedures.

    Certifications:

    ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification, with a specialization in interventional radiology (preferred).

    BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

    Additional certifications may be required based on regional or institutional guidelines.

    Experience: Previous experience in a catheterization lab or interventional radiology setting is preferred.

    Skills:

    Knowledge of imaging techniques and equipment.

    Strong understanding of medical terminology.

    Ability to maintain sterile conditions and practice proper infection control.

    Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

    Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
