Responsibilities: Funeral and Cremation Arrangements: • Meet with bereaved families to discuss and arrange funeral and cremation services, including the selection of caskets, urns, flowers, and other funeral merchandise. • Provide guidance and assistance in choosing appropriate burial or cremation options based on the family's preferences and religious or cultural traditions. • Coordinate and schedule visitations, wakes, memorial services, graveside ceremonies, and cremation ceremonies. • Prepare all necessary paperwork, including death certificates, permits, and other legal documents required for burial or cremation. Family Support and Counseling: • Offer emotional support and guidance to grieving families, ensuring their needs and wishes are understood and respected throughout the funeral and cremation process. • Provide information on grief counseling and other support services available to the family. • Facilitate communication between the family and clergy members, musicians, or other individuals involved in the funeral and cremation services. Funeral and Cremation Service Coordination: • Oversee the logistics of funeral and cremation services, ensuring that all arrangements, including transportation of the deceased, floral arrangements, and audiovisual equipment, are properly handled. • Coordinate with staff members to ensure a seamless and dignified service. • Arrange for the preparation and presentation of the deceased for visitations, funeral services, and cremation ceremonies, ensuring a professional and respectful presentation. Pre-Need Funeral Planning: • Assist individuals and families with pre-need funeral planning, including discussing and documenting their preferences for funeral and cremation services. • Provide guidance and options for pre-payment and financing arrangements, adhering to the company's policies and procedures. Administrative Responsibilities: • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all funeral and cremation arrangements, contracts, financial transactions, and other relevant information. • Handle financial transactions, including collecting payments for services rendered and managing accounts receivable. • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing funeral and cremation services, including health and safety standards and licensing requirements. Community Engagement: • Foster positive relationships with local clergy, community organizations, and other professionals in the funeral industry. • Participate in community events, seminars, and workshops to raise awareness of our funeral and cremation services. • Serve as a compassionate resource to the community, providing guidance and education on end-of-life planning, funeral, and cremation options. Qualifications: • Valid Funeral Director license in the state of Utah, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in funeral and cremation services. • Insurance licensing for pre-need funeral plans. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support to grieving families. • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. • Proficiency in computer applications, including funeral management software and Microsoft Office Suite. • Strong ethical standards and a commitment to upholding the highest level of professionalism in all interactions. • Ability to work well under pressure and in emotionally challenging situations.
