Job Title: Cellar Master Industry: Winery / Winemaking Supervised by: Winemaker Status: Full Time, Hourly Schedule: Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and during harvest season
We’re looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Cellar Master to lead and support day-to-day operations in our winery. This role ensures the cellar runs smoothly and safely, with a strong focus on quality, organization, and teamwork. Working closely with the winemaker and a close-knit production crew, the Cellar Master will play a key role in all aspects of winemaking, from crush to bottling.
This is a leadership position that requires strong communication skills, independent initiative, and the ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
Cellar Operations & Supervision:
Lead daily and harvest cellar operations, maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workplace
Execute and assign tasks based on the winemaker’s daily production plan
Supervise, train, and support full-time and seasonal production staff
Perform and oversee wine movements including racking, topping, blending, and barrel work
Maintain accurate and organized barrel inventory
Submit completed cellar orders and maintain detailed records
Pull samples for lab testing and assist with comparative tastings and blend prep
Ensure proper sanitation and appearance of the facility
Harvest & Bottling:
Prepare the winery for harvest, serving as the point person for daily facility operations
Collaborate with the Bottling Operator to support bottling runs—QC, material staging, and workflow
Assist in harvest planning and seasonal staffing
Facility & Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain all cellar equipment to ensure optimal function and compliance with safety standards
Monitor and manage cellar supplies, including chemicals and materials
Schedule service and communicate maintenance needs for equipment
Track chemical usage and SDS documentation
Promote a culture of cleanliness, ownership, and safety across the facility
Qualifications:
8+ years of hands-on cellar experience; supervisory experience strongly preferred
High school diploma required; B.S. in Enology or related field preferred
Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to work independently
Mechanically inclined and confident in maintaining equipment and facility standards
Proven ability to prioritize tasks, make decisions, and stay calm under pressure
Proficient with computers; able to manage inventory and track production data
Able to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in a production environment
Enthusiastic about wine and comfortable engaging with guests
Additional Notes:
This position plays a vital leadership role in shaping our cellar culture, production efficiency, and product quality
Must be comfortable working flexible hours during peak production periods
A positive, proactive attitude and strong communication skills are essential
Compensation and Benefits:
Rate: $32-$34 Per hour DOE
