    Job Title: Cellar Supervisor Industry: Winery / Winemaking Supervised by: Winemaker/Assistant Winemaker Status: Full Time, Hourly Schedule: Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and during harvest season

    Job Overview

    We are seeking a dedicated Cellar Supervisor to join our team and oversee the daily operations in the winery cellar. This role will focus on ensuring that all winemaking operations are carried out smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. The Cellar Supervisor will supervise cellar staff and assist with various stages of winemaking, from fermentation to bottling. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for winemaking, and an understanding of cellar operations.

    Essential Job Functions:

    Ensure all aspects of cellar work are completed in a timely and efficient manner, including but not limited to fermentation, racking, blending, and barrel management.

    Organize and maintain accurate cellar records, including transactions related to barrels and wine movements.

    Order and maintain all necessary cellar supplies, ensuring stock levels are sufficient for day-to-day operations.

    Work closely with the Winemaker to ensure that wine quality meets required standards and adjust processes as necessary.

    Directs the work of the cellar crew in all activities

    Ensure that safety training, protocols, and practices are adhered to at all times in the cellar and enforce safe working conditions for the crew.

    Responsible for the training, motivation and development of cellar crew

    Provide effective leadership, supervision, and support to cellar staff. Monitor performance and communicate regularly with management.

    Complete timely and accurate reporting and documentation of cellar activities and wine production.

    Operation and maintenance of cellar and harvest equipment

    Assist where required during busy harvest season; working extended periods of time as required which can be numerous consecutive days

    Must adapt to different tasks and assignments as needed, demonstrating flexibility in work roles.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum of seven years of related experience in winery operations or winemaking, with a proven track record of cellar management.

    Strong knowledge of wines and the wine production process, from crush to bottling.

    High school diploma or equivalent

    Proficient in compiling, analyzing, and reporting data related to cellar operations.

    Competent in using Microsoft Office and other relevant software to complete necessary documentation and reporting.

    Demonstrated competence in cellar protocols and procedures, including all cellar-related duties.

    Strong problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement in operational processes.

    Ability to step into any position whenever needed

    Effective in project management and execution, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflows to meet deadlines.

    Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

    Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and good decisions timely

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with the ability to step into any position as needed.

    Demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematics and calculate figures

    Physical/environmental requirements:

    Ability to work in a varied temperature environment from cold to hot

    Ability to work within a noise level that can be consistently moderate to loud at times

    Ability to work with hazardous chemicals

    Ability to work extended hours, including consecutive days during peak production times, such as harvest.

    Ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs.

    Ability to safely operate a forklift

    Ability to understand and operate all facility equipment

    Ability to work on your feet for long periods of time, on concrete, walking for distances, up and down stairs or standing in place.
