Jon-Don is a national value-added distributor of equipment, supplies, and training for specialty contractors in the water and fire restoration, concrete surface prep and polishing, building service/janitorial, and carpet cleaning end markets, with 16 facilities strategically located throughout the United States. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Freight Analyst role at Jon-Don will be responsible for the overall freight operation within the organization (inbound, Outbound, and Intercompany). This position will monitor and update the carrier utilization and performance on the Jon-Don platform. Review freight providers nationally to identify the best regional and national alternatives in terms of quality and pricing. Interface on a day-to-day basis with carriers and Jon-Don branches to ensure that issues related to the carriers are resolved quickly and satisfactorily.
The Freight Analyst will stay on top of industry trends, make recommendations regarding Jon-Don freight rating and routing algorithms. In addition, the Freight Analyst will work directly with carrier partners for spot quotes, and pricing changes to mitigate or eliminate the impact on the Jon-Don's ability to compete in the industry.
This position will work directly with the selected Jon-Don 3rd party providers to ensure the optimization of the services provided and accuracy in invoicing. Other responsibilities include organizing routes, managing carrier payments, and addressing conflicts between the customer and the carrier. Establish, maintain and report carrier scorecard and associated KPI’s., initiate, and lead annual RFQ’s and corporate freight-related improvement initiatives and projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily review and management of shipments in transit
- Direct interface with and management of carrier partners
- Establishes reporting of KPI’s and metrics in all areas of freight spend and Vendor Scorecard
- Review, analyze, and identifies opportunities to reduce freight expense across all freight platforms.
- Takes the lead on projects to improve or reduce freight spend.
- Creates daily reporting to monitor and report on freight P&L and troubleshoots issues.
- Identifies new strategic partnerships to allow Jon-Don to remain competitive.
- Manages and maintains the ADSI Freight platform and works with their support team as required.
- Understands and investigates freight rating processes and issues.
- Files and track claims from carriers and escalates as needed.
- Create reporting to track cost of partnership by carrier partner Creates reporting on carrier assessorial charges, fuel surcharges, and other cost areas to aid in annual RFQ’s and carrier selection process through the year.
- Thoroughly understand carrier agreements and tariffs and makes recommendations on revisions and improvements.
- Owns Freight Related Item Fields in the Jon-Don ERP Item Master database
- Create an international freight program and ensures that Jon-Don operates in compliance with all federal and international regulations.
- Understands and enforces DOT, FAA, and other regulatory compliance organizations to ensure that Jon-Don operates in compliance
- Works in partnership with other departments on freight-related issues.
- Reviews and addresses freight variances
- Manages inbound container and interfaces with freight brokerage partners
- Works directly with warehoused and purchasing teams on freight-related issues.

Required Skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required – Transportation, Supply Chain, Operations, Distribution
- 3+ years’ experience in related field – Transportation, Supply Chain, Operations
- Can interpret and negotiate carrier agreements, tariffs, and 3rd Party Contracts
- 3+ years’ experience in B2B distribution a plus
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access
- Comfortable with Business Intelligence platforms, such as Salesforce.com and SAP
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Creative thinker – the ability to see the big picture and not just follow the process, the ability to solve the right problem, not just the obvious problem
