    Job Description

    FACULTY – FULL-TIME POSITION DESCRIPTION

    RESPONSIBLE TO

    Executive Director

     

    Position Summary

    Responsible for the instruction of specific courses and/or for planning the clinical program for student practical nurses, in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the school, and within the framework of the nursing standards of the assigned clinical facilities. Participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum to determine that the philosophy, objectives and the graduate outcomes are being realized. Plans for and evaluates the clinical learning experiences of students. Evaluates personal goals and submits a self-evaluation annually. Participates in professional organizations and serves as needed on school committees.

     

    Qualifications

    I. Education

    • Minimum of Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

    II. Experience

    • At least two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in nursing practice required.

    • Experience as a registered nurse in the clinical area.

    • Distance education training and knowledge in Blackboard (LMS) and Zoom

    III. Other

    • Current active unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio.

    • Demonstrates a commitment to: nursing organizations, review of nursing literature, nursing research, ongoing self-education, and practical nurse education.

     

    Functions and Responsibilities

    I. Curriculum Responsibilities

    • Instructs students in specific courses by preparing course outlines, lesson plans, objectives, and tests for assigned courses.

    • Assures currency of course outlines, class lecture notes, tests/quizzes and other student evaluation tools.

    • Develops additional educational materials to reinforce class content as necessary.

    • Assures that theory and clinical practice is coordinated.

    • Assists the student in developing an awareness of patient-centered care and health team responsibilities through discussion of experiences in the clinical environment.

    • Incorporates current health trends into the classroom setting.

    • Plans for curriculum development in collaboration with other faculty.

    • Participates in development and enforcement of school policies.

    II. Guidance

    • Evaluates student performance in relationship to the objectives of the school and the criteria for promotion.

    • Counsels and guides students in their educational and personal growth.

    • Counsels students in jeopardy of failure.

    III. Clinical

    • Assists the student in providing patient-centered care and meeting health team responsibilities through controlled experiences in clinical areas.

    • Selects optimum learning experiences for students in specific areas.

    • Coordinates with other instructors in order to maintain consistency in clinical learning experiences.

    • Plans, prepares and directs clinical conferences.

    • Participates in clinical labs.

    • Coordinates theory and practice in the clinical area.

    • Incorporates current health trends into the clinical settings.

    • Provide orientation at clinical sites with introduction to staff.

    IV. Other

    • Participates in school functions.

    • Attends professional meetings and conferences to promote individual development that contributes to the welfare of the school.

    • Substitutes for other instructors, as appropriate.

    • Participates in planning and preparation of classroom schedules.

    • Assists with recruitment activities, as necessary

    • Interprets the practical nurse role to the general public.

    • Promotes Central School of Practical Nursing to the community.

    • Demonstrates a commitment to support nursing research.

    V. Performs other duties as necessary.
