Certification Specialist
Reports To: Food Distribution Director
Salary (Grade): $19.65 (G14-E)
Status: Reg. FT (Non-Exempt)
Location: Food Distribution Building, Winnebago Ne.
Job Purpose & Position Overview
The Certification Specialist will be responsible for serving participants in determining eligibility in accordance with USDA regulations and assisting in all activities of the nutrition program services of the Winnebago Food Distribution Program.
Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Determines applicant eligibility in accordance with the program policy USDA regulations including the appropriate networking with other local, county, and state agencies.
Advises applicants of program requirements and assists in application process.
Notifies each applicant in writing regarding their application status in accordance with policy.
Monitors and tracks assigned participant caseload ensuring compliance and eligibility.
Assists in all duties relating to program conformance to policy, regulations/guidelines and time schedules, as they apply to certification and distribution.
Completes participant recertification timely and in accordance with program policy.
Works with participant caseload to ensure maximum benefit and participation.
Assists in the planning, coordination, and implementation of all nutritional activities.
Assists in all phases of the program operation in the absence of other staff members, if required by the program director.
Must work well with clients, staff and other resource personnel in an acceptable manner.
Keep work area neat and orderly.
Maintains client files in accordance with program policy and USDA regulations.
Assists in the maintenance and upkeep of the store and warehouse area.
Is required to be familiar with FNS regulations, 501 Handbook and appropriate policies.
Client files must be maintained with the appropriate required documentation.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
High school diploma and a minimum of 3 years of related work experience required.
Documented experience in computer skills including MS Office or equivalent.
Documented experience in retail, warehouse, accounting, or other relevant software programs.
Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
Excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills.
Must be able to adhere to the highest level of confidentiality.
Must be able to travel.
Must have a valid driver’s license and insurable under the Tribes existing policy.
Ability to write reports and submit in a timely manner.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.
