    Job Summary:

    The purpose of this position is to provide clinical support to the medical team for a continuum of care for each HEAL patient. The Medical Assistant (MA) is to make patients and their needs a primary focus of one's actions. To develop and sustain productive patient relationships, actively seek information to understand patient circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs. The MA builds rapport and cooperative relationships with patients, considers how actions or plans will affect patients and responds quickly to meet patient needs and work to resolve any associated problems. Essential Functions: • Collect and record subjective and objective data (i.e., chief complaint, vital signs, height, weight, lab specimens, and other department-specific measurements). • Highly skilled in phlebotomy, lab specimen collections, and processing. • Electronic Medical Record (EHR) documentation proficiency. • Triage and process all messages from patients and co-workers to providers promptly. • Maintain clean, organized, and stocked exam rooms with supplies and equipment necessary for exams and minor procedures. • Appropriately administer injections (IM, SQ, ID) and assist in minor procedures • Maintain exceptional customer service and phone etiquette with customers and co-workers. • Call in prescriptions to pharmacies and authorize drug refills as directed by the provider • Educate the patient by providing medication and diet information as instructed by the provider. • Prioritizes patient's needs and triages patients either in person or via telephone and implements a proper course of action by established protocol/guidelines or in consultation with the provider. • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standardized procedures and complying with HIPAA regulations. • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential. • Maintains medical supplies by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt. • Maintains the integrity of the Healing Community Center by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. • Assist with effectively implementing the Patient Assistance Program.

    o The Patient Assistance Program provides medication assistance for individuals with challenges paying for some or all of their prescription medications. o Effective implementation of this program requires collaboration with the ordering provider and the Patient Support Service Assistant (PSSA) to ensure that medications are ordered, refilled, verified, and made available for patients to retrieve promptly.

    • Leads health care team by influence and role modeling excellent service, and innovation, and providing outstanding support for physician practices and overall HEAL quality standards of practice. Basic Qualifications:

    Experience • Minimum of 1 year of clinic setting experience preferred.

    Education • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Training program License, Certification, Registration • Certified Medical Assistant • BCLS certified

    Additional Qualifications: • Demonstrate excellent customer service and organization skills, verbal communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, customer focus, and the ability to understand Heal Community Center customer needs.
