The MA, under the supervision of the APRN/Clinic Physician/Physician's Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management in a clinic setting.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs selected clinical and administrative duties and assists APRN/physician as required
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and taking histories and vital signs
- Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms
- Gives injections and blood draws; venipuncture; assists with EKGs, X-rays, and other tests as needed; and provides other patient care services as directed
- Maintains medication records, assists with APRN/physician medication orders and communications with pharmacy
- Prepares and maintains clinical supplies, equipment and seasonal office decorations
- Assists with answering the telephone, providing information as requested and triaging calls for providers
- Assists with scheduling tests and treatments and processing referrals to other providers
- Creates, maintains and manages patient files, records and other information as needed both electronically (EMR) and in hard copy as per clinic standards
- Compiles and condenses technical and statistical data for reports and records
- Maintains strict confidentiality
- Adheres to ethical, legal and accreditation/regulatory standards
- Assures accuracy in clinical documentation within medical management system
- Communicates appropriately across locations regarding clinical information
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with multicultural and multi-age patient populations
- Understanding of current recognized standards of care within the scope of licensure
- Working knowledge of applicable State and Federal laws and regulations
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Prior primary care (family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics) strongly preferred
- Preferred 3 years' experience in direct clinical care.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Current, Medical Assistant Certification MA, if required in the state in which the clinic is located with ability to obtain license as necessary in other operation states where care management services may be provided.
