Position Overview: The Medical Assistant's (MA) primary responsibility is to coordinate care for new and
existing P3 patients at the direction of the Practice Manager, Medical Director, and P3 Clinicians; and in
cooperation with the other P3 Medical Assistant(s) and P3 Front Desk staff. The MA will deliver exceptional
service to all patients, co-workers and outside vendors. The MA will be familiar with the practice's
concepts and service offerings and will be responsible for delivery of care according to clinic policies,
procedures, and core values. Strict confidentiality of all patient information is mandatory.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
1. Perform phlebotomy on patients and prepare laboratory requisitions and blood samples for
shipping to appropriate laboratory for processing. Collect and process urine and other samples for
applicable laboratory testing. Prepare samples for shipping via Fed Ex or UPS by 2pm daily. *Please
note that clinic performs high volume of phlebotomy services. This position will require the MA to
perform multiple blood draws each day. High level of phlebotomy skill is necessary.
2. Room patient and confirm purpose of visit, verify and update medical history (i.e. – vitals,
medications, supplements, etc.), and preferred pharmacy in electronic medical chart note. Offer
water to the patient and deliver service to the patient in a kind, sensitive and confidential manner.
3. Perform EKG, collect vital signs (heart rate, O2 saturation, respiration, blood pressure, height and
weight, and temperature), assist patients with body composition scale, apply wearable diagnostic
devices, administer injections, assist clinicians with IV therapy procedures, and any other provider directed
testing or procedure.
4. Prepare exam room, patient, and assist providers with testing and or procedures; including but not
limited to removal of lesions, pellet insertion, pap smears, and injectable cosmetic products. Alert
provider when patient, room and applicable equipment are ready and anticipate provider's needs.
5. Process medication refill requests per providers direction.
6. Administer non-controlled substance injections and/or immunizations per provider's direction and
document according to state guidelines including lot number and manufacturer.
7. Explain provider's instructions, treatment and procedures to patients as needed and directed by
the provider.
8. Assist in scheduling return patient appointments; prepare and send instructions and paperwork
for appointments to patients as needed for blood work, follow up appointments, confirm
appointments and follow-up on any needed information prior to the appointment including prior
authorization of services and/or medications. Assist with preparing supplements, injectables, stool
kits, etc. at appointment check out when time allows.
9. Send follow up texts or emails to clients after appointments.
10. Maintain an orderly and organized workstation. Assist with daily clean-up of exam rooms and MA
station/lab.
11. Maintain exam and procedure rooms with adequate supplies, monitor supply expiration dates,
prepare supply orders on a routine basis ensuring adequate inventory on hand. Order hormone
pellets, stem cells, etc. as indicated by provider.
12. Use available technologies, as applicable and appropriate, to research disease and medication
questions prior to bringing questions to the provider.
13. Assist with scheduling outside specialist appointments and referrals including documentation and
follow up to ensure patient compliance.
14. Greet patients by name upon arrival at the office and check them in via the electronic scheduling
system when not previously done by the medical receptionist. Collect and verify demographics
and update all necessary office systems if needed (i.e. medical record).
15. Answer phones (as back-up to medical receptionist) and triage calls based on what needs to be
done for the patient or outside vendor.
16. Support provider with each patient. Obtain and administer necessary medication, supplements,
laboratory testing, enter all data as instructed for patient at end of visit.
17. Support medical receptionist in collection of patient medical records. Scan and attach lab reports
and other records to patient medical record as required.
18. Document chart notes in EMR for patient visits and all other communication with patient via
phone and/or email regarding treatment and / or services and other relevant information
regarding the patient's coordination of care with other specialists, vendors or hospitals.
19. Mail records and products to patients as needed or directed by provider.
20. Work with Front Desk to keep providers on time and on schedule. Assist Front Desk with keeping
provider's schedules up to date.
21. Manage providers on-call phone during business hours, responding to patients in a timely manner.
22. Other duties as needed, assigned by the Practice Manager or Medical Director and as decided
among team members based upon workload and staffing in the office.
Supervision Received: Position reports directly to Practice Manager/ Medical Director with limited regular
supervision to coordinate activities.
Education, Qualifications & Skills: High School graduate or GED, Certified
Medical Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support Certified. Familiarity with medical terminology
preferred.
Experience: Prefer one (1) year in healthcare position in a high-level service-oriented environment. All
licenses must be kept up to date.

High level of skill and comfort with phlebotomy
Employee will use good judgment and critical thinking when evaluating patient health status and
alert physician of immediate concerns regarding patient health and safety

(HIPAA) of 1996 and all regulations proclaimed thereunder.
