Position Summary/Responsibilities
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is responsible for supporting the Occupational Therapist in providing high-quality therapy services to help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities. Key responsibilities include:
Assisting in conducting patient assessments and developing personalized treatment plans.
Implementing therapy interventions to enhance patients' functional independence and quality of life.
Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
Educating patients and families on therapy goals and strategies for improving daily function.
Documenting patient progress and maintaining accurate records in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
Ensuring compliance with facility policies and state and federal healthcare regulations.
Requirements
Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
Current and valid PTA license/certification.
Experience working with adult/geriatric populations preferred.
Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and patient care skills.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including patient transfers, equipment handling, and extended periods of standing/walking.
