Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Peer Counselor to join our team. The Peer Counselor will provide support and guidance to individuals facing behavioral health challenges, addiction issues, and mental health concerns.
Responsibilities
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage with clients and encourage positive behavioral changes
- Provide addiction counseling and mental health support in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner
- Assist individuals in crisis management and intervention situations
- Mentor clients in developing coping strategies and life skills
- Collaborate with other professionals within the behavioral health system to ensure comprehensive care for clients
-Lead peer group sessions on-site and accompany clients on off-site excursions as well.
Experience
- Prior experience in peer counseling, social work, or related fields is preferred
- Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and mental health counseling techniques
- Familiarity with systems of care for individuals with behavioral health needs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse populations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $27.50 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
