Certified Veterinary Technician – Join a Mission-Driven Team Saving Lives!

    Freeport, FL | Full-Time

Are you a credentialed veterinary technician who wants to use your skills to make a real difference —not just for pets, but for animals of all kinds?

Alaqua Animal Refuge is more than a shelter. We are a nonprofit sanctuary and rescue facility on 100 breathtaking acres in Northwest Florida, dedicated to saving animals, healing them, and helping them find forever homes. We’re looking for a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate, close-knit medical team.

This is your chance to work somewhere your work matters —where you're part of a mission that changes lives daily.

    What You'll Do

    • Assist with surgical prep, monitoring, and recovery for spay/neuter and specialty procedures
    • Perform diagnostics (lab work, radiographs, fecals, etc.) and help develop treatment plans
    • Support intake exams, daily treatments, and emergency response cases
    • Provide nursing care for patients hospitalized in our intensive care unit
    • Perform physical therapies for patients recovering from orthopedic injuries/procedures (such as laser therapy, TENS therapy, and hydrotherapy)
    • Care for a variety of animals—from dogs and cats to livestock, small mammals, and exotics
    • Collaborate with veterinarians, fosters, and rescue teams to ensure exceptional care

    What We’re Looking For

    • Certified/Licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT, or equivalent)
    • Minimum 2 years experience in clinical or shelter medicine preferred
    • Calm under pressure, organized, and passionate about rescue work
    • Flexible and willing to jump in wherever needed—every day is different here!
    • Bonus: Large animal or equine experience, though not required

    Why Join Us?

    - Make a difference in the lives of abused, neglected, and homeless animals

    • Work at a beautiful, one-of-a-kind facility designed for healing and hope
    • Be part of a team that feels more like a family than a workplace
    • Enjoy variety—no two days are the same when you work with dogs, cats, horses, pigs, goats, and more
    • Competitive compensation, flexible scheduling, and the chance to grow with us
