    We are currently looking for a Med Surge Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post-Surgical Unit team Full-Time on the Night Shift.

    As the Charge Nurse, you will:

    • Be responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care.
    • Facilitate and mentor others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills.
    • Continually assess unit needs to ensure adequate resources for current and upcoming shifts by collaborating with other departments, clinical and nonclinical, to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrate professionalism at all times and will uphold standards of practice by holding team members accountable for continued compliance adhering to professional guidelines for practice such as state board of nurses, American Nurses Association (ANA) professional standards of care, Joint Commission, and all Federal and State standards of care.

    If scheduled on weekend charge nurse also assumes the following responsibilities:

    • Rounds when possible and/or checks on the ED staff.
    • Calls the Manager and Administrator on call regarding issues pertaining to risk, safety, physician complaints, staffing, clinical issues and patient complaints.

    Required Skills

    • Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
    • At least 5 years experience as an RN in hospital Medical/Surgery or ICU unit.
    • At least 1 year supervisory experience preferred
    • RN, current in the State of Texas
    • BCLS
    • Must attain ACLS and PALS within 3 months of hire.
    • Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
    • Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet needs of patients and unit.
    • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
