Check out our current need: We are seeking a motivated, dynamic Subsurface Utility Engineering Field Technician to provide utility locating services from our Poughkeepsie or Troy office location. Reporting to the Director of Utility Designating, the technician will be responsible for providing utility designating using a variety of geophysical instruments and GPR. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: + Effectively operate radio-frequency electromagnetic pipe and cable locators and ground penetrating radar (GPR) systems for designating subsurface utilities and other subsurface objects + Support utility mapping crews and provide quality control for all work products + Perform and document field work for utility mapping, land survey, environmental remediation and geophysics projects + Prepare detailed field sketches & photo log + Use of Bluebeam, Adobe or Civil 3D to prepare deliverable + Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients Education Requirement: Associates or Bachelor's Degree Experience/Skills Required: + 2 - 4 years of applicable experience with a geophysical sciences firm, contract utility locating firm or major utility company using radio-frequency electromagnetic pipe and cable locators and ground penetrating radar (GPR). + Valid driver's license with good driving record + Working experience with radio-frequency electromagnetic pipe and cable locators and ground penetrating radar (GPR) systems for designating subsurface utilities. + Self-motivated, self-starter capable of working independently and as part of a team + Solid interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) + Possess high ethical and core values + Clean/neat professional appearance + Physical capability to perform field work under strenuous environmental conditions with ability to lift up to 50 lbs. + Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office software and AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus + Working experience with Land Surveying instrumentation such as survey grade GPS and/or robotic total station a plus + Ability to travel for work assignments, including occasional overnight assignments The Chazen Companies is an employee-owned multi-disciplinary firm with deep technical expertise in engineering, surveying, environmental, planning and landscape architecture services throughout our NY offices in Poughkeepsie, Troy, Queensbury, and White Plains and Nashville, TN.
