    CFA Newport Role and Responsibilities: Assistant Manager

    Assistant Managers are operational leaders, responsible for all components of their part of the operation (FOH/BOH) on a given shift. They focus on the 4 components of Operational Excellence (Food, Speed, Cleanliness, and Attentive/Courteous Employees). They also ensure remarkable execution of Chick-fil-A’s 2nd Mile Service components which include Genuine, Proactive, and Personal service.

    They: Oversee a particular function (as directed by the Manager) of the restaurant while working your scheduled shift. They also provide leadership support to the Manager on duty while including them in decisions that impact the business and customer experience. Ensure and coach Team Members to consistently follow all Chick-fil-A processes and procedures.

    They run shifts, consisting primarily of team member breaks, on-shift communication, call-off management, team member discipline, reward & recognition.

    They do this by: engaging and developing their team members and team leaders, communicating expectations and results, and maintaining the vision and values set by the leadership team.

    They possess: Strong communication skills, teaching, training, and equipping, and the ability to gain credibility amongst team by practicing servant leadership.

    Each Manager must proficient at the following tasks:

    Running a shift appropriately and efficiently

    Receiving a CARES call following HEARD Model

    Understanding and implementing LEAN Chicken Process

    Understanding and implementing all health department food safety procedures

    Taking and fulfilling catering orders.

    Tracking labor each hour for the sake of reaching our goals: Power of 15 minutes

    Follow e-Train and the Training Director’s Plan to ensure that new team members are properly trained, and that current team members maintain e-Train procedures

    Interact with vendors to ensure we get what we pay for

    Creating a highly efficient and effective game plan, including breaks, using current labor laws as a guide

    Safe/Cash Handling Procedures: Knowledge of all cash handling process, including counting drawers, deposits, and the safe

    Be sure the drawers and the safe are organized and can be counted easily

    Crisis Management: injuries, sickness, irate customer, fire, robbery etc.

    Expectations:

    40+ hours per week

    5 days per week rotating between Monday - Saturday: 5-2, 8-5, 11-8, 2-11

    100% Operational

    Coaching sessions with Director monthly

    Capable of following opening and closing procedures in the restaurant

    Versed in back office procedures, computer applications and POS functions

    Certification in the CFA Catering module, ServSafe and all e-Train modules

    Ability to be utilized as a Certified Trainer for new Team Member training

    Trained in completing a Restaurant Quality Assessment

    Strong passion for Operational Excellence and demonstrated ability to lead in day to day decision making, time management and task completion

    Showcase a high level of respect and appreciation from the team, including leaders- Be an effective interviewer of potential team members, by following our system, and learning to identify skills the absence or presence of necessary skills

    Trained in handling repair and maintenance call(s) including use of @CFA and the Equipment and Facilities Responsibility Matrix

    High standards for cleanliness efforts in all aspects of the store: Everything in compliance with specifications from Health Department, Chick-fil-A and our store

    Facilitation of all checklists: Ensure all are complete before responsible party clocks out

    Understand how to deal with difficult people. As leadership we must set ourselves apart from immaturity. Leadership must exemplify strong leadership skills and be the “bigger person”.

    Trained in handling emergency procedures: robbery, team/guest injury, fire, store, etc.
