    Job Overview

    The Chief Development Officer (CDO) will lead the Ocean Community YMCA’s fundraising and philanthropic initiatives, building a culture of giving to support and sustain our mission. Reporting to the President/CEO, you will design and execute a comprehensive development strategy, fostering strong relationships with donors, partners, and the community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Fundraising Leadership: Develop and execute a robust fundraising strategy, including annual campaigns, major gifts, planned giving, and special events.
    • Donor Relations: Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, partners, and sponsors, ensuring an exceptional donor experience.
    • Campaign Management: Lead capital campaigns and other large-scale fundraising initiatives to support strategic priorities.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with the Board of Directors, senior leadership, and staff to align development efforts with organizational goals.
    • Strategic Partnership and Community Engagement: Serve as an ambassador to the communities served by the Ocean Community YMCA, playing a visible role in advancing new and existing relationships that lead to increasing levels of philanthropic support.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, or related field.
    • 7+ years of progressive experience in fundraising, including annual campaigns, major gifts and capital campaigns with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.
    • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and inspire staff, board members, and volunteers.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for building relationships.
    • Experience with CRMs.
    • Knowledge of YMCA operations and philanthropic trends is a plus.
