Since 1991, TheraCare has been one of the premier multi-service healthcare, rehabilitation, developmental and educational organizations founded on the principle of delivering promised performance. TheraCare provides services within the five boroughs of New York City and throughout New Jersey and Connecticut. TheraCare provides a variety of services including autism services, early intervention, school age services and health care staffing.
Main focus and challenges:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key advisor to and partner of the CEO and the executive leadership team on financial and strategic matters. The CFO will work closely with the company’s Board of Directors.
The CFO will be directly responsible for providing management to the company’s Administrative Teams - Accounting, Human Resources, Billing, Payroll, and Information Technology Departments. Additionally, he/she will assist the CEO and the senior management team in establishing strategic financial plans, budgets, risk management, operating policies, and procedures to ensure the achievement of corporate objectives.
The CFO will be responsible for increasing TheraCare’s ability to anticipate business issues and for driving good decision-making through sound financial management. The successful candidate will have the ability to function at a broad-based, strategic level while being capable of driving detailed, tactical execution.
Responsibilities
The essential functions/duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for directing the fiscal functions of TheraCare in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the staffing, education, and at-home health services industries.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate TheraCare’s fiscal function and performance.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization.
- Participate in the development of TheraCare’s programs as a strategic partner.
- Evaluate, model and advise on the impacts of near- and long-range planning.
- Develop and ensure timely and accurate completion of budgets, financial reports and financial trends.
- Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of processes and systems that will improve the overall operational efficiencies and effectiveness of the corporation.
- 401K and ESOP reporting to third-party administrator. File annual 5500 for both plans. Perform quarterly reviews, monitor plan performance, and make recommendations for swaps to 401K investment line up. Ensure fiduciary responsibilities are met for each plan.
· Responsible for generating data for annual ESOP valuation
· Ensure Corporate tax returns are timely filed.
- Continual improvement of the budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Responsible for weekly cash forecasts and monthly distributions to Board.
· Create and present at quarterly board meetings Powerpoint presentations and a walk-through of supporting schedules.
- Identify potential risks to organization and chair Risk Management meetings.
- Participate in Annual Audit for Captive Worker’s Compensation Insurance Plan
- Optimize the handling of banking relationships, negotiate renewal agreements, and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
- Evaluation of direct reports for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth.
- Ensure Administrative teams compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Who are we looking for?
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of financial management experience. Strong preference exists for a candidate who has proven experience in a CFO role and served as a business unit/division CFO. CPA preferred.
- Demonstrated success partnering with a CEO defining and implementing company strategy to drive performance and results.
- Proven experience attracting, developing, motivating, and managing high-performing teams where finance is well-regarded as a key business partner to the entire business.
- Experience driving cost and efficiency improvements.
- Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated success developing and leveraging strong collaborative relationships.
- Experience overseeing a Human Resources function.
- Ability to travel regularly to Hauppauge, New York

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
