We are looking for an experienced and visionary Chief Merchandising Officer (CMO) who can roll their sleeves up to drive our merchandising strategies and help expand our reach and sales.

    Position Overview:
    The Chief Merchandising Officer will be responsible for overseeing the company's merchandising strategy, ensuring product selection, pricing, and promotional strategies align with business objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of retail (preferably e-commerce), strong leadership skills, and the ability to develop and execute merchandising plans that maximize profitability. This key role will report directly to the CEO and will partner closely with the Buying, Marketing, Planning, Allocations, and Operations team. We are an aspirational brand seeking an individual with a strong numerical acumen, a deep understanding of product development, and sharp analytical skills to drive data-informed decisions and optimize merchandising strategies.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute comprehensive merchandising strategies to drive sales and revenue growth.
    • Oversee product selection, category management, and inventory planning to optimize product mix and profitability.
    • Utilize market insights and customer data to predict trends and make strategic buying decisions.
    • Utilize advanced analytics to understand customer behaviors and preferences; this involves analyzing data to tailor marketing strategies that enhance customer engagement and drive sales.
    • Collaborate effectively with the CEO and teams to align merchandising strategies with overall business goals.
    • Foster superb relationships with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers to secure high-quality products at competitive pricing.
    • Build and maintain strong partnerships within the LGBTQ+ community.
    • Implement pricing, promotional, and markdown strategies that drive profitability while maintaining brand integrity.
    • Continuously analyze and refine product performance through data-driven insights and competitive analysis.
    • Ensure seamless coordination between merchandising and fulfillment operations.
    • Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor strategies, and emerging customer preferences to maintain a competitive edge.
    • Lead, mentor, educate others to achieve high performance.
    • Establish and nurture relationships with respected leaders in the BDSM community.
    • Support charitable initiatives; positioning the brand as a trusted resource for safe play education
    • Advocate for social justice and equity within the community.

    Basic Requirements:

    • MBA or equivalent degree in merchandising, business administration, or a related field.
    • 7+ years of experience in a senior merchandising role, preferably in e-commerce.
    • Strong numerical acumen and analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and performance metrics to make informed decisions.
    • Understanding of, or a willingness to learn about, the dynamics and nuances of alternative lifestyles, including BDSM. Familiarity with or an openness to gaining knowledge in this area is essential for the role.
