    Position Overview:

    Claros is seeking candidates with a proven track record of deep technical innovation to join our team as our Chief Technical Officer (CTO). The CTO is a key member of Claros' Management Team responsible for the development of Claros' solutions on our three respective technologies: Functional Materials, Analytical Services, and PFAS Destruction. Reporting to the CEO, the CTO is accountable for organizing and conducting the activities of the technical teams to further develop Claros' products into disruptive commercial solutions that will build market demand and take Claros closer to our mission of “Solving problems, without creating new ones.”

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Create the vision for the next generation of Claros' solutions, incorporating innovative technologies and scientific know-how to enable new capabilities within Claros' technology platforms.

    • Plan and execute project plans which result in timely completion of technical milestones.

    • Ensure design and validation goals for technologies are achieved to further advance Claros' solutions to commercialization.

    • Address technical challenges and implement innovative solutions.

    • Communicate a clear development roadmap intricately tied to business objectives with considerations for operations, resource allocation, and external forces that may impact the achievement of desired outcomes; effectively translate the roadmap and vision for stakeholder groups such as cross-functional leadership, investors, and business partners.

    • Hire, develop, and provide mentorship to a driven and diverse team of scientists and engineers to advance Claros' solutions into commercial solutions tailored to customer applications.

    • Work closely with management to reinforce Claros' technological solutions through continued intellectual property initiatives.

    Competencies & Skills:

    • Demonstrated ability to understand complex technologies and effectively articulate those technologies to non-technical audiences as well as technical audiences in varying settings.
    • Extensive experience and expertise in research and development processes, methodologies, and best practices.
    • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and inspire a team of researchers and developers, driving innovation and achieving strategic objectives.
    • In-depth knowledge of the industry and market trends to identify potential opportunities and devise innovative solutions.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to liaise with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients, ensuring effective communication and successful project execution.

    Preferred Experience:

    • 15+ years of Leadership experience in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing, Environmental Engineering, or a related industry. Experience in PFAS remediation or photochemical reactor development, a plus.
    • Proven track record in successfully commercializing scientific and environmental solutions.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    Job Specifications

    • Compensation: $180,000 - $220,000. Competitive executive compensation package will be commiserate with candidate experience.
    • Location: In person at the Claros Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Some ability to work remotely as needed.
    • Travel: May be required periodically for purposes such as client site visits or industry events and conferences.
