    This position is still at the proposal stage and is awaiting award.

    This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below:

    International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Therapeutic Medical Physicist. The Chief Therapeutic Medical Physicist is responsible for overseeing the safe and effective use of radiation in cancer treatment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing the physics team, and optimizing treatment techniques to enhance patient care and outcomes. This role involves collaboration with clinicians and technology experts to implement advanced therapies while maintaining high safety and quality assurance protocols.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee all physics and dosimetry operations.
    • Ensure the quality of the Radiation Oncology Physics Program.
    • Track, evaluate, and document all equipment-related quality assurance data including TLD and credentialing measurements for independent 3rd party analysis.
    • Provide shielding surveys and reports as required by the National VA Health Physics Program of (NHPP).
    • Ensure licenses are current for the linear accelerator equipment.
    • Ensure Radiation Oncology Service has appropriate licenses for users of all our software applications.
    • Ensure continuity of medical physics operations including communication among key personnel.
    • Develop, implement, supervise, and periodically review all QMP policies and procedures that pertain to radiation therapy equipment.
    • Design, implementation, and periodic review of all aspects of the QMP that involve the use of radiotherapy equipment.
    • Oversee the technical activities of all other physicists, dosimetrists, and other staff members assigned to the unit; directs the technical aspects of treatment procedures; and performs duties qualifying them as a supervisor. Contractor’s CTMP will not perform administrative oversight of federal employees.
    • Undertake a systematic literature review, make appropriate site visits, observe procedures, develop standard operating procedures, implement the technique or procedure in clinic, and supervise the training of colleagues who are not familiar with the procedure. When newly published techniques or procedures are being implemented for the first time within facility.
    • Review and update the QMP associated with any new procedure and develop policies and procedures for continuous quality improvement that involve the use of radiotherapy equipment.
    • Report all adverse events in the clinic in Radiotherapy Incident Reporting & Analysis System (RIRAS) and for the implementation of their follow up recommendations.
    • Report and update facility profile data required by the NROP and NHPP offices.
    • Coordinate electronic submission of adverse events, near misses, and good catches reports into Radiotherapy Incident Reporting and Analysis System (RIRAS) maintained by NROP.

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements/Certifications:

    • Licensure with the Board of Licensure for Professional Medical Physicists required.
    • Must possess five years of post-Board Certification experience with at least three years of continuous work experience within the last five years.
    • In addition, must possess the following experience:
      • 5 years' experience in performing QA procedures
      • 3 years' experience in Therapeutic Medical Physics in a healthcare system that is ACR or APEx certified.
      • 3 Must have years' experience in Varrian Linear Accelerators, including TrueBeam with Brain Lab Accessories following standards of TG-142
      • 3 years' experience in Image Guided Radiation Therapy including Cone Beach CT following standard of TG-142
      • years' experience in eclipse treatment planning system, as well as ARIA record and verify system, including the following treatment modalities: 2D/3D Conformal, SRS, SRT, SBRT, and IMRT/VMAT, following standards of TG-53
      • 3 years' experience in IMRT QA, either MapCheck or equivalent
      • 3 years' experience in GE Discovery CT Simulator or equivalent following standards of TG-66
      • 3 years of experience in using superficial X-Ray Machines
      • At least 1 Acceptance Testing on a linear accelerator
      • At least one commission of linear accelerator for a treatment planning system.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    Education Required:

    • Must be Board Certified in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology PH. D level.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
    • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
    • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.

    Other Special Qualifications:

    • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
    • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
    • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

    Additional Information

    Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.

    Min: $300,00 Max $330,000
