    Position Summary:

    Manages Survey Crews for a multi-year heavy civil construction project

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities


    • Planning and implementing a safe work plan for all survey field personnel
    • Planning daily survey activities of multiple survey crews
    • Scheduling and coordination of multiple survey parties; often using GPS technology, electronic total stations, and digital leveling techniques
    • Managing office to field synchronization of data collection
    • Reviewing daily work of crews
    • Completing projects by coordinating requirements with project personnel, including engineers, superintendents and Survey Manager
    • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include scheduling; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
    • Conferring with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within work force
    • Assuming additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc. Ability to relocate as needed

    Skills and Abilities

    • Demonstrate and lead with a strong respect for safety culture in a construction environment

    • Must be proficient with survey software such as Trimble Business Center, CAD Civil 3d, and/or Leica Infinity

    • Construction plan reading

    • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand.

    • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

    • Demonstrate the ability and behavior necessary to lead others in accomplishing individual and team goals

    • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems

    • Look for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

    • Determining the kinds of tools and equipment needed to do a job

    • Ability to work well in a non-structured environment

    • Work as part of a team; ability to lead others


    Education/Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a survey, construction, or engineering-related field preferred, or a combination of education and/or 7-10 years of construction supervision work experience
    • Strong experience with survey field equipment, software, and procedures

    Physical Demands

    • Travel will be required to attend training and meetings
    • Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift
    • Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb
    • Ability to lift, frequently, at least 50 pounds
    • Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly

    Pay range $110-160k
