SUMMARY
The Child Care Teacher is responsible for supporting school readiness and monitoring developmental outcomes while providing responsive caregiving and developmentally appropriate and inclusive learning experiences for enrolled children. The Child Care Teacher is also responsible for creating and supporting a positive, high-quality early learning environment. The overall educational emphasis of the classroom is in alignment with the Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards; the Texas Early Learning Guidelines and PreK guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Articulating and demonstrating sound early childhood principles and best practices.
● Cares for child or children in a daycare facility, attending to their personal needs.
● Observes and monitors play activities or amuse children by reading to or playing games with them.
● Communicating effectively with children, families, and staff.
● Implementing lesson plans, routines, and curriculum.
● Demonstrating professionalism in decision-making and leadership.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
● Child Development Associate Credential by the Council of Professional Recognition (age-specific, or all level)
● Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (12 hours of ECE) or higher.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
● Articulate and demonstrate sound early childhood principles and effective teaching practices for children.
● Actively supervise and ensure the health, well-being, and safety of children.
● Implement age-appropriate lesson plans, effectively implement curriculum components with fidelity, and inclusively scaffold instructional support to meet children’s individual needs.
● Facilitate family engagement experiences and complete two parent conferences per year.
● Effectively communicate and partner with children, families, and staff to implement school readiness strategies.
● Ensure classroom activities and interactions (including transitions) are age and developmentally appropriate and aligned with Texas Early Learning Guidelines and/or Texas PreK Guidelines.
● Coordinate other classroom staff and classroom volunteers in the daily routine.
● Implement positive decision-making strategies that affect the operation, care, and education of children within the classroom, demonstrating professionalism and leadership in appearance and demeanor.
