Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Care Center Director to lead our licensed early childhood education center in North Canton, Ohio. The Director will be responsible for the overall management of the center, ensuring compliance with state regulations, maintaining high-quality standards, and fostering a nurturing environment for children, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Compliance
Oversee daily operations, ensuring adherence to Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) licensing requirements.
Maintain and enhance the center's Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) rating by implementing quality improvement plans and meeting program standards.
Ensure compliance with Title XX/PFCC funding requirements, including accurate enrollment and attendance reporting.
Manage the implementation and compliance of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), ensuring nutritional standards are met.
Staff Management
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise qualified staff in accordance with ODJFS regulations.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes staff retention and satisfaction.
Curriculum & Family Engagement
Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards.
Monitor classroom activities to ensure educational goals are met and individualized learning plans are in place.
Engage families through regular communication, conferences, and involvement in center activities.
Administrative Duties
Develop and manage the center's budget, ensuring financial sustainability.
Maintain accurate records, including enrollment, staff qualifications, and compliance documentation.
Coordinate with external agencies and stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a licensed child care setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or administrative role.
Certifications & Training
Completion of ODJFS Child Care Center Administrator Rules Training within six months of hire.
Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Recognition and Prevention.
Familiarity with the Ohio Professional Registry (OPR) and ongoing professional development requirements.
Knowledge & Skills
In-depth understanding of ODJFS child care licensing rules and regulations.
Proven experience with Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) program standards and rating maintenance.
Knowledge of Title XX/PFCC funding processes and requirements.
Experience managing the CACFP, including meal planning and compliance.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
Experience with center accreditation processes.
Proficiency in Brightwheel is a plus.
