The job of our Maintenance/Grounds employee is to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean place to learn, play, and develop.

    Candidate must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to walk, sit, stand, and reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, and crouch.

    Additional physical requirements may include the following:

    Physically capable of lifting or moving heavy objects.

    Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students.

    Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

    Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.

    Manual dexterity to use a telephone and data entry.

    Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.

    Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.

    Speak in audible tones so that others understand clearly in person and on the telephone.

    Performs other related duties, as assigned by the administrative team, to ensure the efficient, effective functioning of the school environment.

    Responsibilities:

    Assist in maintaining school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of district facilities.

    Assist in promoting the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and grounds.

    Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.

    Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with:

    electrical, plumbing, light carpentry, and light HVAC

    exterior and interior of buildings

    assist with grounds including snow removal, mulch, etc…

    Work beyond scheduled work hours when emergencies arise in order to prevent disruption to school or damage to buildings.

    Move, relocate, load and unload, accept delivery of items such as student furniture or other items that serve the school purpose

    All other duties as assigned by the facilities director or administrative staff

    Qualifications:

    Previous maintenance and grounds experience required

    Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

    Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

    Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing maintenance tasks

    Possess working knowledge of the methods, techniques, and materials used in custodial work

    Ability to climb ladders and work from heights

    Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies
