    Children’s House Assistant Teacher Job Description

    Join our Children's House Montessori teams ages 3-6 years old! We will train and mentor you. This year round position is for immediate hiring upon successful completion of all State of MI and school requirements, including full background checks. Preferred candidates will have a minimum of one year paid professional early childhood care experience. Hiring a teaching assistant who will work in our Children's House Program from 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday through Friday. Also looking for a part time assistant in our Children's House program to cover breaks and aftercare from 11am to 4.30pm.

    Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    A sincere willingness to learn and incorporate all aspects of the Montessori philosophy

    Assist the Lead Teacher to maintain the classroom and materials including light cleaning duties, give lessons, guide the children in their work

    Prepare and clean the classroom for snacks and lunch and naps

    Part of the nap time team

    Part of the after-school care team

    Ability to work year round

    Reliable: punctual and consistent attendance

    Ability to think for yourself and follow the child in their learning

    Respect for children and adults

    Ability to lift 50 pounds

    Perform repetitive bending, stooping, and sitting on the floor

    General housekeeping of a Montessori classroom environment

    Maintaining a positive and pleasant outlook

    Flexible mindset

    Job qualifications include:

    Professional (paid) employment in a preschool classroom or in home experience of at least one year.

    Experience in a Montessori classroom preferred

    We are a Christian faith based school - must be comfortable with leading prayer and reading Bible stories

    Ability to meet the State of MI background checks

    Effective and independent written and oral communication skills

    Minimum high school diploma/GED and early childhood or child development degree/courses helpful

    Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm or for part time work from 11am to 4.30pm

    Must be able to work independently and take initiative
