Position Summary
As a Childern's and Famaily law attorne y, you will represent children who have been victims of, or are at risk of, abuse, abandonment, or neglect and their non-offending parent in family law matters. The attorney will also represent children who are already in the foster care system. The services include legal advice, brief service, and/or extended representation.
Aside from direct representation, the Staff Attorney position requires preparing and delivering client training and other community education; conducting intake and outreach; appearing in administrative and judicial forums; active bar participation; and special legal and community projects.
Qualifications
- Member in good standing of the Florida Bar Association;
- Experience serving low-income individuals, victims of crime, veterans, or other marginalized communities preferred but not required;
- A demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve;
- Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally within a highly stressful environment;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to work independently at times and also as an effective part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners;
- Excellent written and communication skills;
- Ability to work constructively with others;
- The ability to speak more than one language is a plus.
- Experience in Faimily Law (3 years) preferred.
- Experience in Dependency Law (3 years) preferred.
- Florida Bar License required.
