Job Description
The Sales Tax Auditor assists in the enforcement of the Englewood Sales/Use Tax Ordinances. Interprets and applies the Englewood Municipal Code. Performs financial audits of local businesses and prepares detailed documentation of audits. Initiates and recommends actions on non-compliant cases, assists in collection efforts and files complaints. Works with prosecuting attorney for resolution and testifies in court hearings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PREPARATION AND TRAINING
EDUCATION: Required- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Finance
WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years of Sales and Use Tax auditing experience required.
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSURES: CPA or CFE preferred
REQUIRED DRIVER'S LICENSE: Valid Colorado driver's license and a clear or acceptable MVR

COMPUTER SKILLS - Strong skills needed to work with spreadsheets and databases. COMMUNICATION - Strong customer service skills required to work with area merchants and business organizations. Strong presentation skills needed for seminars and other presentations. Strong written skills needed to prepare reports. ANALYTICAL - Strong skills needed to review and evaluate accounting records and audit results. PROJECT MANAGEMENT - Strong skills needed to conduct multiple audits simultaneously. MATHEMATICAL - Strong skills needed to complete statistical reports. Must be able to read, understand, interpret and enforce Municipal Sales/Use tax ordinances.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a standard office environment, requiring sitting for extended periods of time, and occasional light lifting (up to 15 lbs.). Job requires visual and physical capabilities to work on computers and associated equipment for prolonged periods of time (4-6 hours daily).
