    Job Description

    AECOM has a position available for a Civil Drainage Engineer to join our Transportation Group in Orlando, Florida. The qualified applicant will be part of a vibrant team within the Transportation Group consisting of managers, engineers, designers, and planners, etc. with varying years of experience and will be expected to demonstrate an established knowledge of and career path to performing engineering analysis for roadways associated with Transportation Projects.

    As an AECOM Civil Drainage Engineer you can look forward to projects including various assignments for the Department of Transportation and local municipalities throughout Florida. You will also be responsible for developing strong working relationships with clients and staff plus maintain a high level of project standards and meeting or ideally exceeding client expectations.

    Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

    • Performs engineering analysis and plans preparation associated with roadway infrastructure improvements
    • Exercise initiative and independent judgment in solutions of work problems.
    • Works under the direction of senior staff to develop plans and calculations for transportation projects
    • Assists in design of collection and conveyance systems for transportation projects
    • Assists in design of stormwater management facilities to meet water quality and quantity requirements
    • Assists for application of local regulatory requirements for water quality and quantity, which encompasses SJRWMD, SFWMD, SWFWMD, FDEP, RCID, and local municipality requirements.
    • Works under the direction of senior staff to write drainage reports with extensive explanation of basis of design, assumptions, and limitations. Assists in construction coordination, which includes responding to requests for information, requests for modification, and plan revisions.

    Qualifications

    ** Minimum Experience:**

    • BA/BS plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Must have passed the FE exam and have an EIT license
    • Demonstrated civil engineering experience relevant to drainage projects

    ** Preferred Qualifications:**

    • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university
    • Florida Licensed Professional Engineer or if registered as a PE in another state, the ability to obtain FL PE license via reciprocity
    • Design of drainage conveyance systems and plans preparation that are in compliance with FDOT standards.
    • Previous experience with designing ponds
    • Transportation Hydraulics Design experience is helpful
    • Experience using one or more of the following Software is preferred: Geopak, OpenRoad, Corridor Modeling, Autoturn, Microstation or other equivalent CAD software.
