Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer - Highway / Transportation Design in New York City, NY. General duties include a range from roadway and site-civil design, highway and bridge projects, rail projects for both design and project management.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Develop design criteria, horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevation details.
• Design of rail and project management of rail and civil projects.
• Identify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews, client feedback, and utility needs
• Develop construction specifications, quantities, and cost estimates
• Implement 3D CADD modeling techniques
• Develop technical reports, tables, and graphics per client and/or internal AECOM standards
• Adhere to and promote AECOM quality procedures
• Complete interdisciplinary technical reviews
• Contribute to internal project-related staffing decisions to facilitate meeting client schedule, scope, and budget
• Prepare presentations that explain technical findings, recommendations, and limitations
• Interact with regulatory agencies, clients, and subconsultants in a professional manner as required by the AECOM project manager
• Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff
• Work collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the client’s scope, budget, and schedule through ethical and responsible decision making.
• Provide support to AECOM project managers and department managers

• Performs technical quality reviews including documentation in project record in accordance with policies and procedures
• Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for projects or programs
• Work is accomplished autonomously on small projects or portions of larger projects within established procedures and practices
• Generally free to determine work priorities based on direction from manager and project team leads
• Provides leadership by coordinating work of others
• Recruits staff
• Begins to interact directly with client to gather information and discuss project requirements

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent engineering degree accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET plus a minimum of four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Demonstrated experience with highway transportation projects located in the United States

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Professional Engineering License (PE)
• Demonstrated Project Management Skills for small to mid-sized projects
