Job Title: Civil Engineer – Civil Design (Water, Wastewater, Drainage, Hydrology, and Civil Site)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer with experience in civil design, particularly in water, wastewater, drainage, hydrology, and civil site development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing civil engineering projects related to municipal and private sector infrastructure. The role requires a strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, site grading, stormwater management, and utility design.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering:
Develop design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water, wastewater, drainage, and civil site projects.
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater management, drainage analysis, and flood mitigation projects.
Design water distribution and wastewater collection systems, including pipelines, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
Prepare grading and site development plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best engineering practices.
Utilize GIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other design software to develop accurate models and construction drawings.
Conduct erosion control and stormwater pollution prevention planning (SWPPP).
Project Management & Coordination:
Work closely with public agencies, municipalities, and private developers to coordinate project designs and approvals.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including surveyors, geotechnical engineers, and environmental consultants.
Assist in preparing technical reports, feasibility studies, and permitting documents.
Support project managers in preparing bids, proposals, and cost estimates for potential projects.
Participate in client meetings and provide technical expertise in project planning and execution.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Control:
Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including stormwater and environmental guidelines.
Review and analyze municipal codes, regulatory requirements, and permitting processes.
Perform quality control checks on engineering designs to ensure accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
Stay updated on new technology, materials, and methods to enhance engineering solutions.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Education & Licensing:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) required.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred BUT NOT REQUIRED or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with plans to obtain PE.
Experience:
2–10 years of experience in civil design with a focus on water, wastewater, drainage, and site development.
Hands-on experience with hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, or StormCAD).
Experience working on municipal, land development, or infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with permitting and regulatory agencies such as EPA, DOT, FEMA, and local water authorities.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and stormwater modeling tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in hydrology, hydraulics, and site design.
Knowledge of stormwater management regulations, drainage design, and floodplain analysis.
Soft Skills:
Strong communication and teamwork abilities for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy in engineering design.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering.
Experience working with public utilities, municipalities, or state agencies.
Certifications such as Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), LEED, or PMP.
Experience with construction oversight or field inspections.
