    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled and proactive Civil Engineering Project Manager in San Francisco to manage and drive complex infrastructure projects to successful completion. This role is designed for a proficient civil engineering professional who excels in both engineering and project management.

    As a Project Manager at KPFF, you will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from initial planning through execution and closeout, ensuring projects meet client expectations, budget, and schedule requirements.

    • Lead Full Project Lifecycle Management : Manage all phases of civil engineering projects, including planning, design, budgeting, permitting, construction oversight, and project closeout, while ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
    • Provide Technical Expertise and Oversight : Oversee advanced engineering design and calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements. Direct teams in the preparation of complex drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
    • Drive Client Relationships and Business Development : Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and expectations. Identify new business opportunities, contribute to proposal development, and support business growth through networking and project success.
    • Ensure Regulatory Compliance : Oversee the permitting process, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and ensure that all projects meet regulatory standards and industry best practices.
    • Mentor and Lead Project Teams : Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members, fostering professional growth and a collaborative project environment. Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining high standards of quality.
    • Manage Project Schedules, Budgets, and Resources : Develop and maintain project schedules, track project budgets, and allocate resources efficiently to ensure project milestones are achieved within scope and cost parameters.
    • Promote Innovation and Continuous Improvement : Stay informed of industry advancements and integrate new technologies and methods to enhance project efficiency and client satisfaction.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer, reviewing plans, or conducting site visits.
    • Capacity to move around project sites, climb ladders, and navigate uneven terrain.
    • Occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds of equipment or materials.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
    • At least 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering project management, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure projects
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
    • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)
    • Demonstrated experience in project scheduling, budgeting, and resource management
    • In-depth understanding of civil engineering principles, codes, and regulatory requirements
    • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships, with strong client-facing and business development skills
    • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with experience managing multidisciplinary project teams
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including technical reporting and presentations
    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Familiarity with sustainable design principles and certifications (e.g., LEED, Envision) is a plus

    Additional Information

    Compensation
    The base salary for this role is competitive, with a range of $94,000 - $150,000 , determined by experience, education, and skills. KPFF also offers performance-based bonuses to recognize outstanding contributions. Additional details about the full compensation package will be provided during the interview process.
