    The Village of Wintersville, Ohio, is a dedicated community organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents through efficient governance, sustainable development, and community engagement. We are seeking a full-time Class 1 Water Distribution Operator or higher.

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7a.m. - 3:30pm shift. Weekends and Callouts may be needed for emergencies and inclement weather.

    Pay is based on experience.

    Job Purpose

    This position is responsible for operating, maintaining, and monitoring the water treatment and distribution systems to ensure the delivery of safe and reliable drinking water to the community. This position supports compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and contributes to the efficient operation of the Village's water infrastructure.

    Essential Duties

    1. Operate and monitor water treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, meters, and filtration systems.
    2. Perform routine inspections and maintenance of water distribution systems.
    3. Collect and test water samples to ensure compliance with quality standards.
    4. Record operational data and prepare reports for regulatory compliance.
    5. Respond to system alarms and emergencies, troubleshooting issues as needed.
    6. Assist in the repair and replacement of water mains, pipes, and other infrastructure.
    7. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and water quality testing.
    8. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures during all operations.

    Physical Activity Level

    1. Activity Level : Medium to high physical activity.
    2. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
    3. Occasional climbing and working in confined spaces.

    Physical Demands

    1. Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
    2. Manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment.
    3. Visual acuity for reading gauges and monitoring systems.
    4. Ability to work in varying weather conditions and environments.

    Work Environment

    1. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, including treatment plants, pump stations, and distribution sites.
    2. Exposure to chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures.
    3. May require working evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.

    Qualifications

    1. High school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Basic knowledge of water treatment processes and equipment.
    3. Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
    4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    License

    1. Must possess or obtain a Class I Water Supply Operator Certification or Higher Certification from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) before the required time limit.
    2. Valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record. (CDL is helpful but not required.)
