Class C Mechanic
Location - York, Pennsylvania
Salary:
Start at $23.00/hr (plus shift differential of $.25/hr on 2nd shift or $.35/hr on 3rd shift) with room to grow.
$475 tool allowance annually
Overview:
Rabbittransit is a Pennsylvania regional public transportation provider, offering a variety of transportation services to the residents of Adams, Columbia, Cumberland, Franklin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder, Union and York Counties. As a Mechanic you will perform basic mechanical tasks in the diagnosis of malfunctions, preventative maintenance, state inspections and repairs on all Authority owned vehicles. This position receives guidance, performs duties under supervision of the Specialist, Class A, and 1st Class Mechanics, or Manager and works within general guidelines.

CPTA is the County Emergency responder. Performs other duties as assigned. Basis of classification will be on panel interview and skills testing.
Responsibilities:
- Performs general servicing, preventative maintenance, basic diagnosing and troubleshooting, and performs both minor and major repairs to maintain all fleet vehicles in good working order.
- Works along with other mechanics in major repairs and overhauls.
- Also performs state safety inspections as required by Penn DOT and ensures CPTA is in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Receives complaints and requests for equipment service and makes evaluations; makes road calls to service disabled vehicles, as directed by management.
- The mechanic is responsible for maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Completes all necessary record-keeping and report preparation.
- The mechanic is responsible for meeting all attendance requirements according to bid, CBA, policy, and safety emergency response situations.
Qualifications:
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- One year of full time experience as a maintenance technician diagnosing malfunctions, and repairing heavy-duty vehicles. Up to one year of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of vocational education.
- Must possess (IF HIRED, WE OFFER PAID TRAINING TO OBTAIN, IF DON'T HAVE) valid Commercial Driver's License class "B" operator's license with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted that is not under suspension or revocation, and possess current automobile insurance coverage.
- Must possess a valid DOT medical card. (Will send for such if given a contingent offer.)
- This is a safety sensitive position subject to US DOT Drug and Alcohol pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and return to duty testing.
- Must complete two (2) ASE certifications within one year after probation period in H2 Diesel Engines, H3 Drive Train, H4 Brakes, H5 suspension and Steering, H6 Electrical/Electronic Systems, H7 Heating, Ventilation, and A/C.
- Must possess (WE OFFER PAID TRAINING TO OBTAIN, IF DON'T HAVE!) a valid Class 7 Pennsylvania State Motor Vehicle Inspection License.
- Must possess AC 609 certification.(Or must obtain within one year after probation period)
