We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Intake Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The Intake Coordinator will play a crucial role in managing patient intake processes, ensuring that all necessary information is collected efficiently and accurately. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors at the front desk, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical history.
- Schedule appointments and manage the calendar for healthcare providers.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
- Assist patients in understanding their insurance benefits, including Medicare coverage.
- Maintain accurate records using Meditech or similar health information management systems.
- Coordinate with medical staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and care delivery.
- Handle inquiries from patients regarding services, appointments, and billing.
- Support the administrative team with various office tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an office or medical receptionist is preferred.
- Knowledge of Medicare processes and health information management is advantageous.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems such as Meditech.
- Understanding of ICD-9 coding is beneficial but not required.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and staff professionally.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
