Job Summary:
The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for providing students with the knowledge, skills and communication techniques needed for students to meet the course objectives. The Clinical Nurse Educator will supervise and guide the students in the assigned clinical area and simulation center and evaluate student learning. This is an opportunity to teach in a diverse setting and clinical assignments are dependent upon the needs of the college each semester.

General Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for
* Educating, assisting, guiding, and mentoring undergraduate baccalaureate nursing students to apply nursing interventions, provide safe patient-centered care and develop clinical judgment in the clinical area, and/or simulation center.
Competencies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing and proofreading.
Exceptional planning and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work well with culturally diverse populations within an organization.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will manage 1-2 groups of 4-6 nursing students per clinical rotation each semester in a clinical facility and skills lab at the St. Vincent’s Health Sciences Center.
Work Environment
The employees work environment will be their assigned clinical facility and the St. Vincent’s Health Sciences Center.

Clinical facilities can expose employees to various occupational hazards that can significantly impact their health and safety. These hazards include exposure to infectious diseases, workplace violence, and ergonomic risks associated with manual patient handling and repetitive tasks.

Required Education and Experience:
Current unencumbered RN licensure and registration in New York State
A master’s degree in nursing is required. National certification in specialty preferred.
