The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for all departmental functions in support of the hospital mission, vision, and facility goals. The supervisor helps identify the cost-effective systems needed to support the business of the department, taking into account business trends, resource availability and changes in customers. This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and vendors. The Clinical Supervisor identifies and remedies through continuous customer satisfaction data and employee involvement. The Clinical Supervisor works with Senior Management in meeting facility goals and takes patient assignments as needed to meet census demands and fluctuations.
The Clinical Supervisor will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of regulatory requirements and professional practice guidelines
- Have a working knowledge of organizational policies and procedures
- Show competence in the performance of department-specific skills in order to be a resource and mentor for others in the department
- Demonstrate an active involvement in leadership activities within the past year
- Act a charge RN if needed
- Assist with new employee orientation and ongoing education
- Assist with Kronos/Shift Wizard
- Assist with monthly meetings
- Assist with monthly schedules
- Assist with employee evaluations & verbal coaching
The position is responsible and not limited to the following duties:

- Telemetry system
- Critical Lab Values
- Transfers

- Support of all Quality Metrics
- Act as resource for communication.
- Act as liaison between departments.
- Assist with admissions and discharges as needed.
- Make staff assignments.
- Ensure supplies are available and clean utility room is stocked.
- Provide mentor for the orientation of new staff.
- Assist with MIDAS data entry.
- Ensure that On the Job Injuries and Incident Reports are completed and sent to the managers for follow–up.
- Calls senior leaders and Administrator on Call regarding issues pertaining to risk, safety, physician complaints, staffing, clinical issues and patient complaints.
Required Skills
- Graduate of professional school of nursing. BSN preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Preop/PACU or Critical Care nursing preferred. At least 1 year supervisory experience preferred
- Current Texas RN License
- BLS
- Must attain ACLS and PALS by 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge of TDSHS, CMS and Joint Commission standards. Ability to make independent sound nursing and management decisions. Liaison between staff and administration.
