    Northeast DuPage Family and Youth Services (NEDFYS) is a not-for-profit social service agency that provides affordable, high-quality, community-based social services to residents in DuPage County. NEDFYS serves under-resourced residents through individual counseling services, partners with other community agencies and schools to provide mental health groups for adolescents, and provides crisis intervention services in conjunction with area police departments.

    Position Summary

    The Clinical Therapist - Community will coordinate and provide social service assistance to residents of all ages in the Lisle Township community. This person will work in close partnership with community-based agencies in Lisle Township to provide a broad range of services, including crisis intervention, short-term counseling, case management, community outreach, and youth violence prevention programming.

    This position requires on-call responsibilities; minimum 3 days/month. Additional compensation is provided for on-call hours and crisis response.

    Locations: Lisle Township; 255 E. Lake St. Bloomingdale

    Job Responsibilities

    Provide individual and family counseling

    Provide group counseling for school-aged youth and/or adults

    Handle crisis situations as needed

    Provide clinical support and backup as needed for the Police Social Worker at the Woodridge Police Department

    Support, plan and/or facilitate psychoeducational and skill-building groups for Lisle Township residents of various ages

    Develop and implement positive youth development and violence prevention activities for school-aged youth in the Lisle Township area

    Attend community events, e.g. health fairs, and resource fairs, as a representative of NEDFYS.

    Offer office hours and social work support at local libraries in Lisle Township

    Attend county and local coalition meetings as they relate to community-based prevention, mental health initiatives, and agency priorities

    Collect data for grant-related program reports

    Attend Lisle Township Mental Health Board meetings, as assigned

    Collaborate with other Lisle Township Mental Health Board funded agencies, as assigned

    Independently follow up on referrals from police officers, local schools, hospitals, and the general public.

    Assess client needs for referral to social and mental health agencies, emergency shelters, and financial assistance.

    Provide short-term individual and family counseling in situations involving domestic disputes, substance abuse, mental health issues, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, adolescent and geriatric issues, and provides resources and referrals for additional services and long-term assistance.

    Provide Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) services under the Family First Program

    Maintain case management records and confidential case files.

    Determine best course of action and provides short-term crisis intervention services in emergency situations, such as, but not limited to: domestic violence, child abuse, sexual abuse, suicide, serious or fatal accidents, other cases involving emotional trauma, and assistance with hospitalizing emotionally disturbed or mentally ill persons.

    Conduct suicide and mental health assessments.

    Complete all required client documentation, and case notes and maintain electronic health records in accordance to agency standards.

    Provide reports, as needed, to outside sources such as courts, schools, law enforcement.

    Adhere to agency policy on confidentiality and HIPAA compliance related to both written and verbal information at all times.

    Participate in agency staff trainings, as assigned by the supervisor

    Attend weekly supervision meetings

    Crisis-Intervention & Follow-Up Job Responsibilities

    ● Provide on-call coverage for a minimum 3 days per month; On-Call Crisis Coverage Shifts are 24 hours from 6:00 AM to 6:00 AM the following morning

    ● After receiving Crisis Intervention Training, follow all NEDFYS protocols and procedures regarding crisis intervention

    Requirements

    ● Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field; preferred OR

    ● Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field and four years of experience in the mental health field will be considered

    ● Excellent oral and written communication skills

    ● Ability to partner effectively and work cooperatively with law enforcement personnel

    ● Flexible, organized, resourceful

    ● Able to work well independently at times

    ● Some knowledge of trauma treatment modalities; preferred

    ● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with required auto insurance in effect

    ● Bilingual (Spanish); encouraged
