Job Overview
We are looking for a Cloud Network Security Engineer on an effort supporting our Federal Government Client in Quantico, VA. The ideal candidate will provide technical engineering support for our large federal government agency’s highly complex network infrastructure environment to include multiple enclaves comprising various classification levels.
The Cloud Network Security Engineer will work in the Network Section (NS) Front office to deliver security advisory support and expertise for multiple cloud environments (AWS, Azure). Provide over site for the NS Cyber Security Team providing quality assurance of ATO packages, and best-practice support for meeting client requirements for security controls. The role will work cross-functionally with members of the NS team(s), and other departments on a variety of topics including network infrastructure, cloud operations, security compliance, ATO and controls audit and validation, and providing expert recommendations and knowledge sharing on technical and process related subjects as needed.
Position requires an Active Top Secret Clearance
Core Responsibilities
- Planning, engineering, and monitoring the security arrangements for the protection of the network systems including cloud, and related tools
- Identifying, monitoring, and defining the requirements of the overall security of the system.
- Creating different ways to solve the existing threats and security issues.
- Testing and checking the system for weaknesses in software and hardware.
- Investigating intrusion and hacking incidents, collecting incident responses, and carrying out forensic investigations.
- Determining latest technologies and processes that improve the overall security of the system.
- Using industry-standard analysis criteria to test the security level of the firm.
- Developing tracking documents to note system vulnerabilities.
- Reporting the security analysis and monitoring findings.
- Supervising the configuration and installation of new software and hardware.
- Implementing regulatory systems in accordance with IT security.
- Ensuring the cloud network is responsive to user demands
- Scaling cloud services to serve growing businesses
- Troubleshooting issues which arise
- Liaising with business owners and/or stakeholders to determine growth plans
- Monitoring usage of cloud network
- Implementing effective security strategies on cloud networks
- Assess our current NS systems and look for vulnerabilities and work on solutions.
- Researching new technologies, methodologies, policies and procedures and developing analysis of alternatives as directed.
Requirements
- Active Top - Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI
- Masters or Bachelor's degree in relevant field or 8+ years of experience in lieu of degree
- 10+ years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing enterprise cloud solutions including
- 5+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud security solutions
- Experience in implementing application migrations to cloud providers
- Experience with cloud automation (i.e. Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Lambda)
- Experience with Cloud Security Technologies (i.e. Firewalls, NACs, etc) including monitoring and scanning applications.
- Understanding and experience with creating and validating evidence for NIST security controls
- Experienced in every faucet of the ATO process
- Understanding basics of project management principals
- Experience with Agile and working in an Agile team
- Experience in identifying business needs and their alignment with technology
- Experience with Python and/or JavaScript
- Experience with AWS & Azure services
Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications
- AWS Associate or Professional level Certifications
- SPLUNK experience
